How to Choose a Kitchen Remodeling Contractor? Here are Some Tips!

  1. Find a Kitchen and Bath remodeler first and find the contractor last.

I find that the biggest mistakes people do is that they hire a contractor for a kitchen and bath remodel.  This is the easiest way to go over budget.  Contractor will give you a price before you have picked your cabinets, and your design.  The contractor will give you the lowest price and then when you pick out material you will be always over price because they price a product that no one would actually put in there house as it was poor quality.

  1. Find a Kitchen and Bath remodeler with a store frontage

Make sure that the kitchen and bath remodeler has a store.  This way you can pick out all your materials.  You can look at the quality.  You can touch and feel the materials.  Make sure that this company has different levels of quality and make sure you understand the quality of what you are purchasing.  Contractors will take you to a lumber yard and to look at cabinets ex Home Depot and Lowes.  These cabinets are the lowest of grades of cabinets.  It is best to have a company that has medium range and a high end range so that you can make the decision.  A good quality kitchen last over 25 years.  I have in my showroom 27 years old cabinets and they look brand new. If you are going to remodel your kitchen it is best to understand what 2,000 can do for the quality of your cabinets.

  1. The Kitchen and Bath remodeler should have design services.

You can remodel your kitchen and get the same kitchen in the different color but this is the time to make your kitchen function better. Kitchens in the past where the same that were designed 100 years ago.  Our cooking has changed since then.  We now entertain in our kitchen.  We also visit with our friends in our kitchen.  We eat our family meals there.  The kitchen is the center of our lives and the design should change to help the family to talk and live in the space better than in the past.  Design is the key to having a great kitchen.

  1. Evaluate their experience

How long have they been in operation?  Have they won any awards?  Do they understand what you need?  Do they have the experience to make your kitchen better and to make sure they have the necessary skills to make your project go smoothly.

  1. Contact their Clients, if Possible:

Try contacting the company’s past clients and ask them about their experience with the company. Was the job completed in time? How did the initial consultation go? Is there any warranty associated with the kitchen cabinetry? These are some of the questions you could ask to know how reliable the service will be.
