Project Details: Billerica Kitchen Remodel
This complete transformation was exactly what my clients were looking for when they walked into our Showroom. They hated their existing layout. It was not bright enough and never big enough. After interviewing them extensively, we decided to incorporate the porch to become part of the room. The existing wall between the dining room and kitchen would be moved to allow for more space in the kitchen and the new family room would be completely open to the space. The colors and feeling of the space were understood from the word "go". The client wanted a warm Olde World look, with abundant, light, rich paint colors and stainless steel appliances. The countertops would be granite, with more of the gold and yellow tones that made the room feel very warm.
Special Design Features:
We designed cabinetry for a look that was made interesting with lots of details and special features. The painted cabinetry was glazed with a warm brown glaze. The doors were done with a more simple style so the detailed features could stand out. I designed corbels and fluted pilasters for the back of the island. The cooktop had customized rosettes to cap off the fluting. The use of a large decorative crown, with an additional detail piece installed below it, gave it a larger, more decorative look. The custom hood I envisioned was built on site by a custom craftsman. It was finished in plaster and textured with paint. Decorative tiles were inlaid to mimic the backsplash tile.
My clients are thrilled with the final result. It was a collabrative effort between Designer, contractor and clients to achieve their dream. This newly designed kitchen is warm, inviting, relaxing, and has become the center for family entertaining.
