Project Details:Lyndeborough NH - New Kitchen for a Grand Home

This stunning post beam house sets high on a hilltop in southern NH with spectacular views all around. On a clear night you can see the lights in Boston! It needed a custom kitchen that befits the house and takes full advantage of the views. Maple cabinetry with a prominent molding detail was distressed and stained. Juperana Persia granite with its rich coloring and captivating pattern was chosen for the countertops and for the full height backsplash as well for an upscale look. Here, the beauty of the granite really shows as it comes together with both the maple and black cabinetry and the stainless steel hood.

Special Design Features:

A large U-shaped island stretches into the adjoining dining and sitting spaces just enough to create some spacious countertop seating. True beaded board finishes out the back of the island where the stools are. At other points along the back of the island, 13" deep cabinets provide extra storage that makes up for a shortage of wall cabinets in this open space. Behind the sink there cabinets were increased in height, helping to contain water spills and creating a nice presentation as you come into the kitchen from the outdoor deck. The sink was positioned on the island to take advantage of the view, and is just a few steps away from the cook top. Within the island are all the necessities and some niceties such as refrigerator drawers. On the one full wall you'll find the refrigerator and ovens side-by-side, leaving a nicely sized cooking center.

And then there's the butler's pantry! This little space works hard. The microwave and coffee maker are here along with a sink and dishwasher. This really helps in keeping the kitchen neater through the day, and provides the opportunity to clear dirty dishes from the kitchen and dining room when entertaining. Tall cabinets are fabulous pantry storage! One of the best little spaces are mentioned last: a spot for computer and printer. And, yes, there's a great view out the window!
